Alarm activation – IP camera control & Virtual device with Fibaro HC2 – PART 2

The purpose of this post is to illustrate an interesting capability of the Fibaro HC2 in managing some very specific devices that are not originally made to be manage by the HC2 ! This post is the second part of my initial post related to virtual device management.

The objective is to activate the camera motion detector and the automatic send email function through a script and make available the building blocks for an alarm system.

Do not forget to set to “Yes” (Oui) the display of the script in the iPhone interface and unselect the “active script”.

The script to disarm the camera will be very similar:

Do not forget to set to “Yes” (Oui) the display of the script in the iPhone interface and unselect the “active script”.

(i)                  If the camera is already armed (use of a local variable/parameter: 1=armed), 0=disarmed)

(ii)                Then

  1. Disarm the camera using the virtual button “V-foscam2 desarmer”
  2. Set the local variable “#foscam2 armer” to 0, meaning the camera is disarmed.

It is now time to close the loop and define our “alarm” set-up – Suppose:

–          You leave to your office  from Monday to Friday at 8:30am

–          You are back home at 18h30

–          Your camera needs to be in “armed” mode when you are out and “disarmed” mode when you are back

–          The camera is disarmed during the week-end on Saturday and Sunday

It is important to tick the “Activate script” box. This will mean, the script will be running in the background.

And on the same way, to disarm your alarm, you will have the following:

There is no need to do some additional scripting for the week-end since the last “disarming” process is scheduled on Friday at 18h30 and the next “arming” process will be on the next Monday 8h30.

Your comments are welcome !

  1. Thanks for the info on how to set this up. I now have my HC2 ‘talking’ to my webcam and can arm and disarm the alarm option via a script now :)
I also added a notification to let me know it had happened, just for my peace of mind.
The query I had was if you had experienced any issues seeing new scripts show up on your phone. I’m on v3.517 and was wondering if there was a step I was missing or whether this was a bug.

  2. Hi,
Thanks for your comment. I plan to migrate to v3.517 in the next coming days and this will be a good opportunity to post some new stuff.

Can you elaborate some more on the issues you are facing with your phone, please.

    Regards,

    YG
